Sacramental Preparation

Sacramental preparation is more than religious instruction. It is the process of faith formation  which includes develop in personal prayer, involvement of  the family and faith community and  a deepening involvement in the life of the church. It is meant to prepare the child or young adult to celebrate the sacrament  with knowledge and commitment. 

First Reconciliation

As Catholics we are blessed with the gifts of God's mercy and forgiveness. We experience this love from God especially in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Preparation for this sacrament in Grade 2  aims to foster an understanding of God's infinite mercy and love and how this is expressed thought the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

 

First Holy Communion

The Eucharist is the sacrament by which Catholics receive the Body and Blood of Christ. As children reach the age of reason,generally around age seven, the Church extends to them an invitation to celebrate the sacrament of Eucharist. The celebration of this sacrament usually starts in Grade 2.

 

Confirmation

 "In the Sacrament of Confirmation , the baptized person is 'sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit' and is  strengthened for service to the Body of Christ"  CCC

 Preparation for reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is a two year program starting in Grade 10 and ending with the celebration of the sacrament in Grade 11. Students in Catholic School need only come  for  sacramental preparation in Grade 11.
