Parish Pastoral Council

Mission Description / Purpose: By means of the pastoral council, "the Christian faithful along with those who share in the pastoral care of the parish in virtue of their office give their help in fostering pastoral activity" (Code of Canon Law, can. 536.1).

According to the Eighth Synod of the Archdiocese of Boston, the purpose of the pastoral council is to "assist the pastor in his leadership role of planning, organizing, initiating, promoting, coordinating and reviewing the evangelization, worship, religious education and service activities within the parish."

The Pastoral Council is the primary organizing council in the parish. It serves an important role in advising the Pastor. The Pastor hears the voice of the parish through the PPC. Members advise and provide prudent counsel to the Pastor concerning all areas of parish life. The PPC works to promotes unity and a sense of community in the parish by collaborating with other councils, commissions and ministries. Minutes of PPC meetings can be obtained by clicking here.
