About Fr. Gerald Souza

Our Parish Administrator, Fr. Souza is a native of Plymouth, and grew up in Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Parish where he first pictured himself as a priest. He spent much time working at the seafood restaurant his family had on the town wharf. After graduating from Sacred Heart High School in Kingston in 2004, he became a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Boston. He attended Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia, graduated from the Franciscan University of Steubenville with a Bachelor of Philosophy and earned a Master of Divinity in Theology from Saint John's Seminary in Brighton. Fr. Souza was ordained to the priesthood by Cardinal Seán O'Malley on May 25, 2013. After serving the Billerica Catholic Collaborative as his first assignment, Fr. Souza moved to South Boston where he became parochial vicar to the parish collaborative of St. Monica-St. Augustine, St. Peter, and St. Vincent de Paul. Fr. Souza enjoys returning to Plymouth to visit his family, which include his parents, brother and his brother's family. Fr. Souza appreciates being outside year-round; going to the beach, golfing poorly and running slowly in the warmer months and skiing in the colder months. Fr. Souza has a great love for Christ, the Church and the priesthood.
