Message Series

At Our Lady of Fatima, Saint Anselm and Saint Bridget, we preach in Message Series. By exploring a single theme over the course of multiple weekends, we hope to tie the Good News of the Gospel to what's happening in our world, our culture, our community. Saint Augustine said to teach and engage where they are in order to move them to where God wants them to be.

Summer of Saints Message Series

July 11 and 12 ~ Saint Kateri

Small Group Questions week of July 12th

  1. In the Gospel Jesus very often uses the metaphor of the seed to describe the Kingdom and its innate energy. What does a seed represent? Do I share his optimism? Or do I feel weary in the current climate of our world?
  2. As you think of the field in which the word of God is scattered, do you recognize the barren places, the dry patches and the fertile parts. To which do I pay attention?
  3. The closing line of this week’s Gospel was “Let anyone with ears listen!” What is the difference between listening and hearing? How do the parables support this?
  4. Jesus says in John 10:10: “I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly." What does “abundant” mean here? How do you think Jesus lays out the path to an abundant life?
  5. This week, Father Gerald told the story of a relatively recent canonized saint – Saint Kateri. Kateri learned prayers from a young age from her mother. Where did you learn how to pray? How would you describe your prayer life?
  6. Kateri was moved by the loving and gentle God Jesuits described while visiting her tribe. Can you recall a time when the word of God particularly resonated with you?
  7. Saint Kateri encountered many rocks and thorns for her faith, as well as rejection and hostility. Have there been times you have faced abuse because of you faith?
  8. What rocks and thorns are in your heart? How are they keeping you from taking the next step on your discipleship path?
  9. Are there any saints that you have a particular devotion to and why?

"So the Twelve called together to the community of the disciples and said, "It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to serve at table...We shall devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word." ~ Acts 6:2,4
